Mandala Dot Painting has become popular over the past few years and now our academy is providing a course on how to create these colourfully dotted patterns in a fun and meaningful way.

There are a great many different patterns and interpretations of Mandala Dot Painting, and the great thing about it is that you can create these paintings yourself by learning with one of the best.

You don’t need special skills or be an amazingly talented painter to get great results. Our instructor will show you many tips and tricks so you will get the hang of it in no time!

Session 1: Painting Dots- the Basics
• Observe Amy’s artwork live and through a slideshow presentation
• Learn how to mix your acrylic paints with various acrylic mediums
• Learn the basics of how to make circular dots in various sizes through demonstrations and one-on-one guidance
• Learn the value of positive and negative space, along with scale to provoke depth and illusion of space.
• Explore this technique individually using acrylic on canvas.
• Opportunity for small group sharing and whole class reflection

Session 2: Mandala Dot Painting
• Learn how to organize the dots into mandala structures through demos
• Learn about other contemporary artists creating mandala dot paintings
• Learn how to use aesthetically pleasing color combinations
• Explore this technique using acrylic on canvas
• Once confident, you will be given three canvases of various sizes to begin creating your mandala dot paintings that will be used for the rest of the course. While a painting is drying, you can start another!
• Opportunity for small group sharing and whole class reflection

Session 3: Mandala Dot Layering
• Learn how to layer the same colored dots to create three-dimensionality
• Continue your three paintings
• Opportunity for small group sharing and whole class reflection

Session 4: Finish and Protect your Paintings
• Learn how to use gloss/matt varnish to protect your paintings from dust and dirt
• Finish your three paintings
• Opportunity for small group sharing and whole class reflection

Ms. Amy Diener is an international contemporary artist from New York specialicing in vibrant mandala dot paintings.
After receiving a degree in art education in New York, Diener moved to the lively city of Bangkok where she lives now.

Diener has showcased her paintings in the United States, Thailand, Singapore, and Germany. Diener. Her artwork was the cover story for Wanderlust: Expat Life & Style Magazine – Thailand (August / September 2015.)

Diener’s work was selected for the Saatchi Art “Making Faces: New Portraits” collection. Her artwork has also been featured in Bangkok Post, The Journal News (New York), Global Living, art4d.asia, Expat Life, Bangkok 101, Bangkok Asia City Guide, AngloInfo, and LeParisPhuket.
