My name is Poom.I began my career in the gem industry when I was 23 years old, starting as a gemologist. Over time, I continued to study and explore different areas within the industry, eventually developing a strong interest in gem cutting.To build my skills, I spent several years learning various cutting styles commonly used in the trade — including traditional Thai freehand cutting, Jambpeg style, handpiece techniques, precision faceting, and Sri Lankan methods. My focus was to understand the advantages and limitations of each technique, both in theory and in practice.After gaining enough experience, I decided to open a small gem cutting studio in Silom, the center of Bangkok’s gem district.The goal of the studio is to offer hands-on training using real industry machines and techniques, with a focus on teaching the practical skills needed for professional gem cutting. By keeping the class size small, I ensure that each student receives personalized guidance.Today, my studio serves as a place where knowledge, skill, and industry practices are passed on to the next generation of cutters.
